As I am writing this article, I am also watching Hulu (more like listening), mentally getting ready for the day tomorrow, and listening for my 5 month old son to get up to be fed dinner.
Would I say I am the best multitasker?
Not at all.
If fact, my best type of work comes when I am fully concentrated on one task and multitasking seems to actually hinder the speed of my work. Yet we all try to do it. But at what cost?
The infographic below talks about some of the sacrifices we make for multitasking, some of which are actually the very thing we want to overcome like time wasted and efficiency. Here are some highlights of the infographic.
- 98% of people who multitask do more harm than good.
- On average, employees at work who use a computer are distracted about every 10 minutes. They lose 2.1 hours a day.
- Concentrate on one task at a time to get more done faster. Find a distraction free environment, turn off the cell phone, and have a pen and paper to write down those thoughts that pop up and distract your thinking.

“The next time you’re tempted to multitask just say no” Lol! Sounds like a drug campaign. To answer the question…I multitask that much more 😉

Ha! Do you feel effective at it?

Is your middle name, “Awesome”? Because it should be. 😀
