As you will know, a few days ago Apple announced their new white iPhone 4.
However since then the white and black iPhone 4 have been put side-by-side, and well, the result seems to be that the white iPhone 4 is an absolute bloater.
Check out this image of the devices side-by-side below:
Ok, so maybe I have been a bit extreme, but check it out, the iPhone 4 in white seems to be considerably thicker, and although this may seem quite petty, just think about the headache that this is going to cause for both case manufacturers and just generally for white iPhone 4 users who are wanting to buy a case and the black ones are a struggle to put on.
To me this does seem to be a huge fail. I think that a lot of people are saying that the change is due to making the iPhone 4 more technically awesome, but, surely this is going to cause even more problems when it comes to cases etc?

Actually it’s not. It’s the exact same size. Consumer Reports validated that it the exact same size along with Apple themselves.

I think they said it’s something like 0.3mm thicker. I don’t really think three tenths of a millimeter will make much difference. You’re talking about a really small difference in size, roughly the width of two human hairs side-by-side.
As for the reason for the bigger size, the plastic is thicker. Nothing different inside, they just had to add a little thickness to get the same strength and UV specs as the black plastic.
