I believe that I’m the only one on the 8BIT team that could get away with a blog post title like that!
Apparently in a speed test as seen in the embedded video, this LG device annihilates the iPhone 4 and Galaxy S when loading YouTube videos.
Yikes. Specs? Here:
- 3.8″ WVGA IPS Screen
- Android 2.2
- 5Mpix camera
- AF, HDMI out
- 1080P video
- Powered by OMAP 3630 1GHz
Snap. Literally.

There’s all sorts of problems with this. A phone can have dual core 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a large amount of cache (no idea what that would be for a phone) and if the network sucks there’s nothing the phone (or you) can do about it’s performance.
So in order to figure out how accurate this is we have to ask some questions. First and formost, was this test done on the phones respective networks or on Wifi?
If it was done on the networks, was it done in the US?
If yes, who is the carrier for that phone?
The Galaxy is Sprint so thats not an accurate test to the iPhone simply because Sprint is a lower latency network due to less traffic congestion than what ATT has. Sooo… is this phone 4G, LTE, Sprint, Verizon, ATT? If it was on the ATT network, that speaks for mountains. But if it isn’t then this test that we keep seeing is absolutely pointless unless it was conducted over the same Wifi network.
