Turntable is relatively new and I’d like to give a BIG thanks to John Hughes and Phil Schneider for keeping the dream alive!
This spin of the Turntable is a band that I found by accident. It was a freebie. And you can download it for free, too!
I would like to introduce you to:
the Gray Havens
I’ve downloaded albums before. More than not, they end up in the digital trash, but there are some that turn out being a big time favorite, and I end up snatching-up all their other albums!
The Gray Havens is one of those bands that I will be following from here on out.
The Sound
Yummy.
These guys hit my palette at just the right time. Right when I had my fill of Mumford and Sons, memorized all the Avett Brothers lyrics, and wished The Lumineers had more music to gobble up, the Gray Havens landed in front of me.
Take a listen:
Every time a listen through it, I find more lyrics I like, and hang on their sound that I absolutely love.
Here’s a little bit from their bio:
“The Gray Havens are an indie pop duo from Crystal Lake, IL. The group is comprised of Dave and Licia Radford. Yes, they are married, as of August 2012. Both carry a distinct and recognizable sound to their voice which, in combination, make them stand out among other duos. As far as their musical backgrounds, however, they couldn’t be more different. Dave got his start early as a top 24 contestant on American Idol, season 5.”
I was shocked to see the bit about American Idol. Just hearing that almost stopped me from giving it a listen. Boy, was I wrong!
There’s a cool interview on Tim Challies’ website, you can learn more about the Gray Haven and download their album–free for a limited time–from Bandcamp.
Rock on.
