Happy Thanksgiving!
Over the past several years I’ve posted various Thanksgiving posts – infographics, funny images, etc…
This year, however, I had the overwhelming feeling of sharing a few things I am very thankful for and giving you the opportunity to do so as well.
I Am Thankful For…
Just a few weeks ago we moved back to the United States after living in Italy for seven years.
My heart is overflowing with thankfulness this year:
- Friends – old and new – near and far.
- Family – in blood and in spirit.
- Finances – to meet my family’s needs – and then some.
With my heart now divided in two countries and employment that is dependent on technology, I can say that when it comes to technology, I am thankful for a good internet connection.

Air conditioning…hey, I live in South Carolina.
Eric Dye says
LOL Srsly.

As a Texan, I’m tempted to say air conditioning too but I think I’ll go with WordPress as my final answer.
Welcome back to the States, Eric! Where are you settling?
Eric Dye says
You have to pay for that AC somehow! WordPress FTW!
We are settling around the VA/NC border – just inside NC. 🙂
Steven Gliebe says
That must be a beautiful area. Enjoy. 🙂
Greg says
YAY for the location. Technically not far from me. 🙂

I’m going with Skype/facetime and messaging apps (iMessage/whatsapp et all). Since I’ve moved abroad they’ve really helped me stay in contact with people back home (and the ChurchMag team).
Eric Dye says
Good choice, sir!

My turn… Portable/External Hard Drives! Although I love me some cloud storage (i.e. Google Drive / Dropbox) for saving documents, work files, assets, etc. There’s just something “magical” about it (wink wink). I do have to travel sometimes to places where the internet frankly SUCKS so having something small that I can drop all my most important assets and files onto and go is awesome to me. It’s fairly old tech.. but VITAL tech to someone who works remotely.
Also, PMT’s (Project Management Tools). I could get by with pencil and paper, and I have before, but it’s much easier to use a service like Trello or Asana or even Google Apps with some of their collaboration tools. I’m just thankful for all of it!
Eric Dye says
Never underestimate the power of also backing up your own files on your own hardware. 😀
Michael Hamilton says
Agreed… i’m crazy about security. Everything that accesses the internet is encrypted… and I do turn on 2FA (2 Factor Authentication) whenever possible. I’ve read all the horror stories and don’t want it to happen to me!
Eric Dye says
2FA is a pain, but totally worth it.
Greg says
There is no cloud….
