At first glance, John Dyer’s Texas Bible plugin looks like a joke, but there’s more to it than simple fun and games.
The Texas Bible Plugin is a Google Chrome extension that will change all the second person plurals.
Here’s an example of how it works:
Y’all & Y’all’s
I always thought it was “y’all” and “all y’all’s,” but I’m sure John did plenty of research to ensure the accuracy of this stellar browser add-on.
If the Texas version isn’t for you, perhaps one of the many linguistic options will catch your eye:

Like I said at the beginning of the post, John Dyer’s plugin isn’t all about fun and games. He goes on to explain how this really draws you into the concept of “The Individual vs. The Community.”
Take these scriptures for example:
And God said, “Behold, I have given y’all every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. Y’all shall have them for food. (Gen 1:29, tESV – Texan ESV)
For I know the plans I have for yinz, declares Yahweh, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give yinz a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11, pESV – Pittsburgh ESV)
…Work out your guys’s salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you guys, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. (Phil. 2:12-14, usESV)
Pretty cool, right?
I encourage you to read more insight from John Dyer and download this fun and educational Google Chrome Extension, Texas Bible.
I hope y’all enjoy this plugin as much as I do.

That has to be one of the most amazing plugins ever.

Without a doubt.

In seminary, I always translated 2nd person plural as y’all, not you because of the accuracy.
I Corinthians 6:19 (the “anti-smoking” verse to mothers of teens everywhere) is interesting seen in this light. “Don’t y’all know that y’all’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?” Why did Paul say “y’all’s body” instead of “your body” or “y’all’s bodies”? I think he’s talking about the church being the temple of the Holy Spirit, so you don’t want to corrupt it with your individual actions.
I’m sure that’s not a perfect understanding, but it’s food for thought.
