Virtually everyone has a picture that comes to their mind or story to tell if I said, “9/11” or “where were you when you heard the news about 9/11?”
Almost everyone has a story to tell about their relationship or lack thereof with Jesus and some sort of opinion about their views of Christianity.
I recently discovered that the NY Times did a virtual tour of the new memorial at Ground Zero, called A New Story Told and it is fantastic.
It made me think, how could a church or your church make the story of Jesus come more alive.
The way they integrate videos and still pictures to weave together a story and entice you to read more and more is quite amazing.
It’s awesome to just scroll down and down to keep reading about the process of making the memorial site…I love that the video starts on its own and that they have different quotes about different parts. It all seems so authentic.
I wonder if your church could write a story and make it scroll like this one. It felt old school in a way to scroll down and not click here and there, yet in doing that it also felt calming that I could just go at my own pace and didn’t have to wait for my computer to load the pages.
How does your website tell the story of your church?
Is there a way you could use your website to tell THE story of Jesus Christ?
And use that more as an outreach tool?
What did you think of the website?
Was it innovative to you? Or just the same ol’ boring stuff?

The Guardian recently produced an amazing tool for their website to tell a story about Bush fires.
I’m working with a client to do something similar with some of their partner stories,

I can imagine how using the web like this could be an awesome way to tell any number of different types of story.

I think a website offers so much potential to a church, but much of it is still untapped. With the use of videos and interesting graphics, it can become easier to hold someone’s attention. And with the popular “paralex” theme style, it lends itself naturally to telling a story- a great way to share the gospel or the story of what your church is all about.
