Well, this didn’t happen to me, but it comes first hand from the guy who dealt with it.
I have a friend who used to be one of the internal tech support at a large telco.
One day, he got a call asking about to clean a keyboard on a new computer…
You Did What?
The person rang tech support after they’d spilt coffee on the keyboard of their brand new computer.
Have you ever done this before?
They were told to take the affected keyboard home and gently run it under warm water and then put in the airing/drying cupboard/warm place to dry over night and then try it again in the morning.
Well, the next morning the tech support got a VERY unhappy call back saying now the computer wouldn’t turn on, boot, make a gauge beeping noise, nothing…
So they went to have a look at the computer.
It turns out that the person who’d spilt the coffee had neglected one very important fact — their new computer was a LAPTOP! Yep, they put the whole laptop under the tap…
So the next time you need to clean a computer, remember that laptops and water really don’t mix!
How do you clean your keyboard? I use this stuff.
