Depending on where you live, you may have fully emerged from lockdown or still be under guidance to stay indoors 24/7. In either situation, your post pandemic church should be asking tough questions about the way it will operate in the future. Both what aspects from the lockdown were beneficial and should be further harnessed, and what has been missing.

Livestream Church has proven its importance as a tool for maintaining a connection with the community around a church. So many churches have been unexpectedly forced to become digital savvy overnight. I am personally excited for how the church responded going digital. But now that we are here we cannot go back. Countless people are being reached, and this is not the time to retreat.

After the excitement wears off, the church must be ready and in place for the new normal. A normal where people are hyperaware of the possibilities of viruses and pandemics. The virus might still return for a second round. There may be future crises. The church needs to become a safe place. It is already a safe place for many other situations, and now it needs to be a safe place for the elderly, the vulnerable, the immunocompromised not only for this season but for all seasons.
