The jQuery plugin, Supersized!, looks to be a solid fullscreen background and slideshow solution.
It looks great, has a good deal of options, and even integrates nicely with Flickr.
Here are some of Supersized!‘s features:
- Resizes images to fill browser while maintaining image dimension ratio
- Cycles Images/backgrounds via slideshow with transitions and preloading
- Navigation controls with keyboard support
- Integration with Flickr – pull photos by user, set, or group
Visit the Supersized! website to download, check the demos, and check-out configuration options.

I love Supersized!. It was the perfect choice for getting that immersive feel on the last project. I love how it fills the viewport, regardless of aspect ratio.
I really need to learn jquery though. All these awesome little scripts are stacking up, and not optimized. Once I’m done building out the mobile version, I’ll hopefully have some time to optimize it (getting W3 Total Cache & WPTouch pro to play nice together is a bit of a chore).
ChurchCoders: got some resources on queuing or optimizing scripts like jQuery?

I love seeing this stuff in action on real projects.
Sweet.
