Released by Church Marketing Sucks / The Center for Church Communication, this is a helpful guide to prepare both your service and your heart for the biggest Sunday of the year: Easter.
Last year, I read a good book from the same publishers about preparing for Christmas, and Super Sunday is an even better book.
The Good
This was not only a really practical and helpful book, but also, very inspirational. In fact, the last section of the book, dedicated to helping church creatives/techs remain balanced spiritually while rushing around like crazy to help others enter into the presence of God. On practical tip that I found particularly helpful was the idea of doing a pre-Easter training session for all church volunteers. As I saw this, I wrote it down and subsequently passed it on to my lead pastor who liked the idea and gave it a green light. Of course, beyond the practical tips actually listed in the book, the material prompted me to think and develop some of my own thoughts and plans for Easter. In case you’re wondering, provoking thought is the mark of a good book.
The Bad
Nothing. Seriously, I’m not usually one for this type of reading, but I enjoyed it and got a lot out of it.
