It’s that time again…! Sunday’s a good day to take it easy.
I’ve decided that on Sundays I’m not going to do any blogging except for a very simple post series called “The Sunday Special” where you get to ask me anything you’d like.
You can ask about me about web technology, WordPress, blogging, what I ate for breakfast… whatever.
I can’t promise that I’ll answer all of your questions, but feel free to answer each other’s questions as well.
I’ll try to answer all the questions throughout the coming week.
Simple enough, right? Go.

John – I need help making my RSS feed subscription more accessible. Any recommended plug-ins to add to my single blog posts or to my site in general? http://downwritehonest.com Thanks bro.
human3rror says
if it's just RSS, you could probably add a very nice RSS icon at the bottom of each post. no plugin needed! i'm not using a plugin for all my extra subscription things.

I'm trying to figure out how to get my comments to show up on the front page – under the "featured" post, not just the post page. http://www.bethgsanders.com.
Have Disqus plugin installed and activated. Thanks!

Beth,
What do you mean? You want people to be able to see the comments on the home screen?
Beth g sanders says
Yeah – the comment box does not show up unless you click through to the post page – I'd rather have the comment box under the post on the home page (like this page).
human3rror says
Beth,
Ah, you'll need to add some code to your template to make that happen. check out the forums here at churchm.ag/forums and we can probably get you some more help.

Great – thanks!

John.
i'm starting my own blog to write about youthministry/theology/faith stuff.
i've already got hosted and wordpress theme installed.
after that, what are 3 "Best Practices" you'd recommend?
human3rror says
1. scheduling.
2. accountability.
3. goals.
Jim says
one week from launch…are you ready?
@nilssmith says
We are looking to launch a blog for our college ministry. Are there a few ministry blogs that you might suggest that we could watch to see how to effectively blog deepening our community? Is there a wordpress theme you would suggest? What are the key things to blog about?
human3rror says
Somewhat of a complicated question…!
any theme will do… but you want one that'll serve your purposes.
you want to blog about things that are relevant to your mission, purpose, and goals for the blog. context will play a large part of all of this.
make sure to schedule your posts, get some accountability, and make some goals.

If we are needing to purchase a video camera for our church plant, do you have one you recommend? It doesn't have to be HD, but it would be nice. And we don't need to break into 4 digits either in the price.
human3rror says
When you mean “video camera” are you talking about one for recording and streaming onto the web? or just capturing video?
statedog says
Um, maybe a multipurpose usage. But to record events to make highlights from, videos to promo a series or an event, record testimonials or "stories" of life change. All to be used either in a service or an event, but then they would obviously be transferred to an online medium as well to be posted to social networks/vimeo/youtube

i've got an hd cam (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=… that i'm trying to sell. I'm not using it and it's pretty much brand new. let me know if you're interested.
