How do you create website mockups for clients in light of responsive design? Or do you simply mock the site and the client sees the mobile version later?
At some point, this is going to have to change. With the mobile web bursting as the seams, you’re going to need to address this. If not by necessity, then this could be something that sets you apart or ahead of everyone else.
But who wants to mock-up three versions? (Desktop, Tablet and Smartphone)
Here’s an interesting solution (and free PSD):
Style Tiles
The project is called, Style Tiles.
Style Tiles is built around the fundamental idea that you should,
“develop a design system rather than designing fixed-width pages.”
Curious, isn’t it?
Here’s an example of three website mock-ups:
Not a drop of layout. It’s all about focusing on the design. Can you imagine pitching this to a client? Not only would the initial design time be quick, but it focuses on one thing: Design.
Here’s how the Style Tile design process ends-up when it hits the layout:
In this case example, it looks like the client mixed a few elements they liked from the Style Tiles.
Pretty slick, right?
Although this may not be the perfect solution, I really like the fundamental idea.
