Four months ago I had made a big change to my own blog where I went from a single blogger writing every day to an editor of five contributors. While I thought that I was finally taking the leap of faith to empower others to talk about technology from their experience and building up the church, the reality is that God was looking ahead.
See how my mentality as a blogger of “I’ve got this” could have actually ended my blog if it was not for God’s divine intervention?
This has been the most stressful three month period of my life. In the last two months, I have taken two huge exams for my graduate program in mental health counseling, I plan to graduate from seminary in May, change my career path from youth ministry as a missionary (think, raising my own funds) to counseling by mid summer, and then move 2,000 miles back to my hometown. Numerous times I found myself unable to blog. In fact, my posts on ChurchMag dropped to nearly nothing. I could not even write enough content for my own blog.
Yet, three or four months ago when I was planning, contacting others to join my blogging team, and putting into action what I had dreamed of for years, I had no idea I would be this overwhelmed with the rest of my life. My reason for having a blogging team, instead of just me writing from my own perspective, is that I wanted to improve my blog content and empower other bloggers.
- Better Content
I can write great stuff on social media, blogging, and creating a team. But I know very little compared to others on audio engineering, stage construction, and other platforms like Android. - Empowering Bloggers
I’ve never wanted a platform to preach the instructions of Jeremy. Instead, I wanted to empower others. Seeking out other people that have passions of church tech ministries, but did not have their own blog was a perfect combination for me. I can encourage them to write great stuff and empower them to become better bloggers for the Kingdom.
So when life impacted my blog and I had this team to push on with the blog, I knew God did something amazing. Too many times church techies go solo and work on a project without a team, but we can find better solutions with more hands to make for efficiency.

I am one of those who would typically say, “I got this.” Just because I like maintaining a measure of control. However, in my church tech world, I only have one backup person who can only back me up every so often. I am typically the only one who can and is willing to do the work…which stinks. I really would like at least one more team member but since it involves the computer, most people dont’ want to touch it with a ten foot pole.

I hope you find your person. Teens are a great option if you can invest in them and find someone willing to put in the work and serve the church!
