Yeah that’s just silly.
The iPhone is going to drop calls no matter how you hold it!

There’s actually some truth to it. The way the two antennae work is that one goes around the left side of the beziel, the other goes the other way around. If you bridge the gap with your skin (or anything else conductive for that matter) the anntena don’t function properly and you lose reception

I think while the issue definitely exists for some users, it’s getting way more attention because people love to read about Apple screwing up. The day after the keynote when I expected most mainstream media outlets to be talking about facetime or the new design or what have you all they were talking about was the wifi issue Steve had. I sincerely doubt Apple is sweating this yet because for many people they’re just not seeing it (and even for those that are using a case or even covering that spot with a piece of scotch tape fixes the issue. Not a great solution but life could be worse).
