Almost exactly one year to the day we introduced ChurchMag Staff Writers.
It was a bit of an experiment, but considering the stellar writing and commitment that Jeremy Smith, Phil Schneider, Rachel Blom, and Chris Wilson had already showed, it should be no surprise that the experiment was a great success.
Over the past year I have seen this team mature and continue to grow together. I can’t imagine ChurchMag without this team:
- Jeremy Smith infuses ChurchMag with so many great ideas: the ChurchMag Minecraft server, multiple video series, and more. Not to mention his regular involvement with ChurchMag’s social media accounts and the ChurchMag Podcast.
- Phil Schneider is full of ChurchMag’s heart and soul. His love for the theological and Sci-Fi hits a sweet spot, and the fact that he is well seasoned in ministry brings a much needed perspective on Church leadership life. Oh! And we can’t forget the ChurchMag Podcast, can we!?!?
- Rachel Blom is the lone lady on this team – so far. 😉 Her passion for writing and youth ministry (not to mention the patience she has for our juvenile behavior) is adored by all us all. No ChurchMag writer has ever written as many blog post series as her.
- Chris Wilson is on the team because we needed someone who sounded cool (he’s British). You know I’m kidding. Have you read his posts on apps and productivity? Not to mention the pile of free photos he’s given away!?! Oh! And he is currently manning the ChurchMag Newsletter – which is way awesome.
Like I said. I can’t imagine ChurchMag without this team. That’s why they will no longer be Staff Writers, but Senior Staff Writers.
So what happens to “Staff Writers?”
2016’s New ChurchMag Staff Writers
At the start of 2016 we released the new ChurchMag logo and offered up the chance for Staff Writing position submissions (you can read that here).
And now, with much pleasure, I would like to introduce to you 2016’s new ChurchMag Staff Writers:
Sean Leacy
Staff Writer: IT & Security
ChurchMag Writer Since 2015
I’m a technologist at heart. I’ve spent the last 15 years working in the IT industry and have developed a passion to provide free and low-cost solutions for home and business with a specialty for assisting churches and non-profits. IT is a ministry for me. God has given me a mind to comprehend and troubleshoot the technical world and a personality to relay that information to the end user in a way that makes sense. Before technology even comes into the equation life flows in this order: Christ, my beautiful bride, my children and then everything else. Aside from IT I have a passion and desire to see men set free to walk out in true, God honoring masculinity. I run a blog on the “dad life”, marriage, faith and relationships at http://www.redeemingfatherhood.com

Blessing Mpofu
Staff Writer: IT & Security
ChurchMag Writer Since 2015
Husband to Ingrid. We live in Cape Town, South Africa. Glad Jesus loves me and grateful for His grace. I worked in IT and currently doing my theology undergrad. I think and process a lot by writing. I’m a blogger, growing leader and communicator. All I want to do is change the world. I love great coffee, playing squash (the sport), reading and great music. Most of my writing on ChurchMag endeavours to explore whys and hows. I’m fascinated by the church’s thinking behind how it views and uses technology. I try to build a bridge or interface between church life, mission and tech. I love making friends; get in touch.

Jesse Gruber
Staff Writer: Android & Church Planting
ChurchMag Writer Since 2013
Jesse loves Jesus, his wife, Hannah, his little girl, Evie, his baby boy, Jameson, and everything Android. He is on the leadership team at Missio Dei, a church plant in Glassboro, NJ and oversees design and communication there. He loves using technology and media to tell as many people about Jesus as he can, and has promised to do so until the day he dies.
Moving Forward
You may have already noticed these guys being more active on ChurchMag – and that’s why!
So far we’ve had a lot of fun in the ChurchMag backchannel as the Senior Staff Writers and Staff Writers scheme and dream up what’s next for ChurchMag as we strive to serve this community.
It’s an honor and I am humbled to get the chance to work with such an amazing team of passionate people. I hope what you read and see on this side of ChurchMag reflects that.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Now that our new son is getting a bit more comfortable with this whole “being out of the womb” thing I’ll be able to get back to my responsibility here 🙂
