This app looks seriously amazing.
Square, which is a mobile payments system, gives a glimpse of what Point of Sale systems could become as technology continues to mature.
For example, it is being reported that an iPad is already being used completely for such a use as this.

It makes sense too considering that POS systems are considerably more expensive than the cost of an iPad.
(And they don’t look nearly as cool.)
Check out these screenshots and video overview after the jump…
I could easily see some larger ministries using this type of tool and app for their location-based stores.
Sweetness!

Our church is currently looking into this for the cafe (as well as it her smaller uses such as small group books, etc).
The rates are really good and the hardware is simply an iPad and a free credit card dongle… Much cheaper than most POS setups. No setup costs.
Seems like a perfect answer for churches with a cafe/coffee shop or book store.

This looks so legit. I would love to see non-profits implementing this at events to get donations easier.

Imagine this in a store. No counter or anything, just a dude w/ his iPhone floatin around. the next person in line cues themselves up by clicking on their iPhone, which knows they’re in this store and that Square is available.
Then, the teller moves to them based on the picture. AAAHH it’s a beautiful possibility.

I wonder, can this be used for other things at a church such as events (ticket sales), room rentals, and most importantly, tithing?
