It’s joked about — like the comic below — that ‘social media’ being ‘anti-social,’ but is it really?
Hasn’t technology like suburban living, two car garages, and shopping centers done more to alienate people than social media?
Sure, there are extremes, but I would actually contend that social media has contributed to more social connections than without.
From my personal experience, I actually have more friends because of social media — not to mention the connections that I have maintained because social media has bridged a geographical gap that would have otherwise made an ongoing connection impossible.
What has your experience been?
Are you more or less social because of social media?

Curtis says
I do find that I am more social because of social media involvement in my life. The singular ability to look up someones name (via Facebook / Twitter / Google+) that I have met several times but keep forgetting has allowed me to grow friendships rather than come off as uncaring or insensitive. That alone has massively improved my (and their) willingness to develop a relationship.

I have also found the same. In fact, I’ve found NEW friendships that continue to grow. 😀
