Social media is a part of our lives and for businesses, bloggers, and brands, you have to be on at least one social network, if not more. People always want to know what social network is going to give them the biggest bang for their buck. While I can never give you an answer, honestly you need to make that decision for yourself.
Here is an example why:
I do youth ministry and love to connect online for a wider impact. But my target audience defines who I should be impacting.
Here are some thoughts:
- Teenagers Facebook is the biggest and best hit for me online. I actually polled them asking what social networks they were on. 95% were on Facebook, 5% on none, and only 3% on Twitter and Google+ combined. Facebook is where I need to invest.
- Youth Ministry Professionals To come up with better talks, creative ideas, and a fuller investment in ministry, I love talking to other youth workers. There is an unstated statement that Twitter is the professional social network for youth workers to network and Facebook for ministry and personal.
- Parents and Volunteers Email or phone call. Forget social networks, I may never get a response. I have to go old school where email and phone calls rule.

If you could only pick one social network to invest in the rest of your life, which one is it?
