Perhaps this isn’t really a secret.
It makes simple sense, really.
But the last few weeks this concept keeps coming into play as my work schedule has been a little wonky.
Blog Ahead
Here I am writing a blog post at 8:30pm.
This isn’t my usual routine.
Normally I post a week ahead of time. This has been my strategy for the last several years on ChurchMag. While I don’t write every blog post, the effort in editing, scheduling, and creating featured images still takes time. For the most part, we publish each day of the week, and only miss a beat if WordPress borks or, like this week, I failed to blog ahead.
That’s it. That’s my “secret.” Blog a week ahead.
If you want to post every day, write your post a week before and schedule it. Post three times a week? Do the same.
This removes a lot of pressure and allows for crazy days and crazy times that can throw a wrench in your rhythm. Even though I missed posting last week and today’s post is going out much later than usual, I’ll spend the remainder of this week, “double posting” I call it, to give myself that padding I normally enjoy.
Imagine had I been posting day to day? I wouldn’t be posting today’s late. I would have missed an entire week of blog posts.
What kind of “secrets” do you have?
I would love to hear them. ?

Sometimes it is difficult to start coming up with post ideas when it is time to write. I’d say make note of blog post ideas. Then when it is time to write you’re not trying to come up with an idea for post but simply picking one from the ‘bank’. 😉
