Haven’t gotten much posted this week. Most of my fun/non-academic writing has been towards the (potential) book I’m working on. The working title is “Saved, single and insane: Misadventures in the weird world of Christian singledom”.
Eric Dye says
That’s quite the title!
joanna says
Yeah! It’s a comedy so I decided to take a dramatic bent on the title

😀

I will be finishing the installation of our new captive portal and firewall system for our open wireless network at church. I’m also in the process of building six computers for offices at church.
Eric Dye says
DANG!
Stephen Peterson says
We’ll hopefully get it all done before school starts (I’m in high-school).
Eric Dye says
You are awesome.
James Cooper says
Been one of those weeks when you’re busy but there’s not much to show for it… Been working on some things that you might see on a certain blog about all things church tech soon 😉
And also been doing some work on my big Christmas site (http://www.whychristmas.com) ready for Christmas 2011! Getting it to be a fully responsive site and much more mobile friendly. Will hopefully roll that out next month.
Eric Dye says
Fully. Awesome. 😀

I worked on a couple of blog posts this week that I think could be helpful for those striving for creativity week-in and week-out in the context of the local church.
1. THE ART AND CRAFT OF PITCHING AN IDEA: Chances are you’re in a position where you regularly have to get buy-in from someone – whether its your senior pastor, your creative team, or even your congregation. I’ve left you 5 tips that can increase your chances of getting a green light.
2. ARE CHURCHES SPEAKING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE: Like any good missionary, a church has to be sure they are speaking the language of the culture if they hope to share the gospel in their community. But is your church speaking a foreign language?
Both those posts can be found at http://shanesooter.com
Happy reading!
Eric Dye says
Great stuff, Shane! Have you thought about writing for us?

Building a WordPress plugin that displays Photo Sets from zenfolio.com (our photo management site of choice).
It’s first time I’ve had to do much with the WordPress settings API.
Eric Dye says
Dude. Seriously. Way cool. You might have to write about this, eh!
Raoul Snyman says
Too much to do, too little time to do it!
The main project I am working on is OpenLP, the open source worship presentation app – http://openlp.org/. That said, I haven’t actually done much coding this week, it’s mostly been project management and code review. Though I didn’t personally do it, last week and this week were instrumental in getting some key issues in our OS X build sorted out. I haven’t had the time to blog about it this past week. Maybe I can do that today.
The other project I have been working on is an open source project management app called Project HQ – http://projecthq.org/. The web framework I was using initially has been discontinued, and I had to migrate it to a new framework. I’ve made some good progress on that this week, but it’s a long and complicated process, which means it’s going to take some time still.
Oh, one last thing I have done is to make a daily “newspaper” out of my Twitter feed using the free Paper.li service. So, for your daily Christians in Open Source Software feed, check out http://paper.li/f-1310974212
Eric Dye says
Checking it out, right now. 😉
Marcus Williamson says
Thanks for the love on here. Right now I’m working through an After Effects tut, nothing too crazys but yeah…also pushing through on the blog 🙂
Eric Dye says
Love seeing some Marcus on the Saturday Sunday Share!
