Here comes another Riddle Me This!
Colton Depuy, a newly hired AV Coordinator at his church in Boise ID, sent us a question about navigating through the difficult task of working part-time at his church, managing volunteers, and the tension that can come with that as you ask unpaid help (volunteers) to assist you (paid staff).
Here’s the first part of Colton’s question:
“Hi guys, I found your podcast last week and have listened to about 1/3 of the episodes already. One of the best resources I have found, Thanks!
So I am a 24-year-old (recently hired) AV Coordinator at my church in Boise ID. I was on the Audio Team for 8 years before taking this position. Previously, we had one volunteer who headed up the teams (Audio & Presentation) but we are looking to add lighting and video, so the decision was made to hire a part-time position to head it up.
So one question is, how much to delegate vs take on my self. I work a full-time regular job plus this position and cannot always make all events. I feel bad asking a volunteer to do something when I am getting paid to be there.”

We would love a review on iTunes and feel free to ask us anything here.
Until next week…

It’s helpful to remember that each of those potential volunteers is an essential member of your local church’s body and they each have roles to play. God has generously given them gifts and talents to use for His glory. Though you may feel awkward for being paid for some of your work, don’t let that truck you into gobbling up all of the opportunities for your volunteers to play their role in their church.

That’s EXCELLENT advice. Well said.
