We constantly push for ministry leaders and churches to look at all of the different ways of engaging a community of believers that they have influence in. Social media is a natural place to engage with student because that is what they are on a lot. In reality, youth workers are already doing a lot of great things, but missing out on sharing that on social media where they can reach an audience of teenagers that were not at last Sunday’s youth group, parents who know they drop their children off with you but only think that you play games, and a host of people looking to serve in a ministry that is exciting and passionate for Christ but not sure where to look.
Our eBook, “Retweeting the Church: 40 Social Media Ideas for Youth Ministry,” comes out in September 2013. The eBook is designed to be practical and help you instantly add a new idea or resource to your ministry. To prepare for the eBook’s release, we want to give you four social media tips to set you up for success with engaging with students. Here are the four facts from the infographic:
- Tweets with image links will get you twice the engagement rate than of those without. Tweets with hashtags get twice as much engagement on top of that.
- Facebook dominates social media referrals with 71% of the world market. By comparison, the second referral site is Pinterest at 8.8%.
- 46% of churches say that social media is their most effective method of reaching out to their community.
- 6 billion hours of video are watched each month on YouTube by 1 billion unique viewers. Make video announcements, vlogs, or ask-the-pastor videos.

Yes you can share it, by all means. I recommend using the citing format I shared at the end of the post. As for the eBook, I am planning to send this out to select blogs (you being one of them) after I get it back from my editor so that you guys can read it and review it if they would like on their website.
