Every year, I used to find myself redesigning my church’s website. It wasn’t because the design style was out of date. It wasn’t even because I was getting better at web design (though I was).
It’s because I got bored with the site. And more than that, I felt like it wasn’t as effective as I wanted it to be. It just wasn’t getting the job done.
It wasn’t until I stopped working for a church and started searching for a church that I realized what a website really needed. And as I began exploring first impressions and marketing as it applied to church websites, I got a really good handle on what makes a great church website.
I’ll give you a hint. It’s not necessarily the design (though that’s important).
So I put together this resource based on my work with churches—consulting on their web strategy and web presence.
This e-book follows one church’s web strategy in particular as we navigated what would make a perfect website for what they were trying to accomplish. Through following their story, you’ll see how you can innovate and design a site that works perfectly for your church’s purposes.
Who Was This Tool Designed For?
This e-book was designed with the web strategist in mind. It’s intended for anyone from the website designer to the communications director. It isn’t a step-by-step design tutorial and it isn’t even a breakdown of current website trends.
It’s a marketing framework for your church’s website that will last—even as the design trends change and even as you get better at designing. You’ll be able to re-visit the e-book each time you want to make a significant change to the site and especially if you seek to overhaul it.
In an ever-changing web world, this book gives the philosophy that makes the current trends and practices effective.
So should you by the e-book?
Perhaps a more important question is, why wouldn’t you?
