I’m just kidding.
‘Blogging’ is not one of the responsibilities of being the PCUSA Moderator, but Bruce Reyes-Chow is doing a fine job of it.
(Perhaps he’s established a precedent…)
A recent post illuminates a common thought by many bloggers (both young and old):
Every once in a while I find my self reading someone’s blog and thinking to myself, “Really? Surely someone else has written on _________.” And then at other times as I am thinking about starting up another post, I again say to myself, “Really? Surely someone else has written on ________.”
The answer to this question in both cases is a resounding, “Yes, someone has already written on _________.” And the corresponding response should be, “So what?”
I’ve thought about that many times. Perhaps you have as well? Bruce goes on to say:
So in the end I embrace this nature of blogging and our need to always be offering up thought, EVEN though we may have thought about it before. None of us are the same we were a year ago, that we just never know what new thoughts and insights we may bring.
So in short, the joys of blogging would be for me . . .
- Blogging does not allow one to rest the laurels of past thinking or thought;
- Blogging forces one to stay engaged in the NOW;
- Blogging forces one one’s grow in one’s articulation and expression of beliefs, opinion and experiences.
I like those bullet points. I think they are fascinatingly yummy.
What are some of the joys of blogging for you?

Sharing life with people that i'll never meet. It's awesome! I like blogging because it's fun to express myself. I am shy, so when I write blogs online they are usually worth something.

oh man, you know what? i was having this conversation with myself last night about why blog about stuff that others are? then i start to talk to others about stuff and I realize that NOT EVERYONE is blogging or reading the same stuff that we are.
I needed a kick in the butt…

Blogging lets me organize and articulate thoughts that I normally wouldn't be able to put together during a normal conversation (because I'm usually all over the place when I'm talking). Most of the stuff I I want to write about is usually inspired or in response to other people's blog posts, though. When I would start writing out the post, I would stop a few sentences in because I felt like I was being redundant. Thanks for making me feel a little less self-conscious about that sort of thing.
