It might be hard to imagine but I was once a thespian.
Mind you, this was back in middle school so trust me, I’ve heard all the lame jokes already. But, I remember how difficult it was to rehearse and remember my lines for one of the school productions.
If I could have fast-forwarded and grabbed the Rehearsal App for iPad that would have been really nice but my time machine wasn’t completed yet…
Anyways, I can imagine something like this would be useful for Youth Pastor’s and actors/actresses that have weekly skits for their ministries.
Check the screens after the jump:
From the website:
Want to learn your lines? This is the app for that. Rehearsal, is the professional tool for actors and other members of the production crew to organize their scripts for auditions and working on set.
Apparently it’s “battle-tested” by real Hollywood actors.
… Cool…?
Rehearsal is:
- extremely easy to use, solid and reliable
- intuitive and obvious: it reminds you of what you do with physical scripts
- free to play with and inexpensive after that
Script management:
- you work with the same PDF and Word files you get on your computer
- you easily break down your script into your scenes
- reading your script is a snap – just flick and scroll
Learning your lines:
- highlight your lines and your scene partners’ lines in vibrant colors
- play peekaboo to memorize – reveal your lines in blackout mode only when you need them
- record your lines and play them back, watching the script scroll by like a teleprompter
- record any number of versions of scenes, exploring your character and creating new reads
- automatically repeat your scene over and over until you know your lines cold
- quickly add beat marks to divide longer passages into manageable beats
Exploring your character:
- easily create and review “notes in the margins” – text, audio, photo or video depending upon your device
- record different takes on lines, different looks for characters without forgetting them
- have all your strong choices at your fingertips for instant review before performance
Everyone on the production team can use Rehearsal:
- location scouts can create quick and easy reports
- makeup, wardrobe and set dressers can keep track of continuity and looks from scene to scene
- directors and cinematographers can plan shots and create on-the-fly storyboards
Special features just for voice talent:
- audition for voiceover work from anywhere
- email in your auditions as MP3 files from anywhere
For actors from every walk of life and all areas of accomplishment:
- works with short audition sides, to feature length scripts
- easily handles PDF files or physical scripts by bursting and scanning
- everything you need to flawlessly audition and perform on-set in your pocket

John…thanks for this post! I’m new to this site and am really enjoying a lot of your posts. Wow…this would have made a huge difference for me in High School and College. What would I have done with this kind of technology back then?!
Keep up the great posts!
