Looks like Community Christian Church have taken the “success” of Rebecca Black’s song to make a parody to promote their easter services.
I think it’s pretty fun and creative, it’s just a shame that they didn’t get it out sooner, although saying that, to date has racked up almost 2 million views, so they must have done something right!
Eric Bramlett, one of the creative team at Community Christian Church said:
“There are plenty of places in the Bible where God displays a sense of humor and almost all of them were contextual, based on the time in which they were living…If we’re going to try and reach out to the next generation, we’ve got a lot of work to do. There’s an embracing of pop culture that people are a bit afraid of.”
I am so interested in viral video, and I think that if the church can capitalize on that then they most certainly should!
What do you think of the video?

I blogged about this on Friday (, Friday…) http://ow.ly/4ywOT and the response to the video has been decidedly negative. 2 million views is great, but the video has 52k dislikes to 15k likes. That said, as Christians I don’t think we should put a whole lot of weight into popularity and public opinion.
To me real issue is whether this video draws people to Community Christian Church and to Jesus. Do you think people who see the video come away from it thinking, “Wow, I’d like to check out that church!” Or, “Hmmm, I never thought about Jesus in that way before. I’d like to learn more about Him.”

I think that auto-tuning is ruining music 😉

I hate that we keep promoting things like this.
