It’s called, “WALT.”
WALT never made it to production, this was a prototype.
“WALT” stands for Wizzy Active Lifestyle Telephone. Not the best name, but what this little gem did was way before it’s time!
WALT
Apple introduced W.A.LT. at 1993’s MacWorld Boston and featured a high-resolution touch screen LCD with stylus, hand writing recognition, fax, address book, caller ID, online banking, speakerphone, message pad, and personalized ring tones.
How’s that for “before its time.”
WALT even ran a modified version of Apple’s System 6 OS!
iOS anyone?
Although really cool, $8,000 is a lot to pay for a piece of Apple’s past, don’t you think?

True story.

Probably a lot of times people purchase such things to feel better about themselves and to gain attention. For others, it’s just fascination with a particular kind of item, or things rare.

Waste of money, mostly. Agreed.
