This is the ninth article in the series Publishing Your Own eBook series.
You have written something amazing, beautified it, and now have it in every format that you could get. But the point of doing this eBook is not for self-edification, otherwise you would not have had it checked, styled, and formatted. How do we get it out to people? Here are some ideas.
Note: We do not tell about selling them, but if you do the MOBI and EPUB from yesterday, most of this is done for you already.
- Using Your Network
Remember back when we talked about using people’s quotes? These people along with others you have developed a solid coalition with are the best people to start at. Ask them to share the eBook and reference their quote. Post their tweetable quote and reference the link to the book. So many great ideas here. - Limited-Time Giveaway
If you give people only so long to download it, you will actually see a rise in downloads. Of course, you can always give it away again. Note that there are severe penalties for doing contests/giveaways wrong on social media sites, so do them right. One app on Facebook I haven’t discussed is Punchtab that has a great blog integration well. - Take A Big Step
I have assumed to this point that you will not sell it, but you have put a ton of time into this. I love that you are giving it away, but maybe you should benefit from this eBook a bit. Use this to gain Likes on Facebook, grab some emails for a quarterly newsletter, or be direct and sell it on Amazon. You might not make much, but you have done some amazing work and should benefit from it too. Take a step and go for it.
This has been a long journey. Share with all of us in the comments how we can get your eBook.
