There’s really nothing more to say that this video doesn’t already contain (see after the jump).
This website is awesome. I’ll definitely be using this.
PrintFriendly.com even has a WordPress Plugin!
The plugin automatically puts the code in the post but I decided to do it manually and not have them load yet another CSS stylesheet (and I’d recommend you do the same).
I also don’t have it called on the main ChurchCrunch.com home page proper (just the single post view) so that the initial load time would be minimal (not requiring another javascript call to a 3rd party domain on startup).
Again, I’m all about speed.

HaHaHa… This is Taylor from PrintFriendly. I recorded the video at 3:00 AM. Everyone was asleep so I had to whisper. I need to remake that! 😛

Great tool but one of the most painful things I have ever listened to

not the natural narrator… huh? yeah.

Please, I beg of you, don't make your blog printable! A blog – almost by definition – is meant to be read and reacted to on screen. If your readers feel motivated to print your pages, then I think you're doing something wrong with your writing. In the video example, the webpage description of the T-Mobile phone should already have a "print this page" function. If not, the web designer's not doing his job and should be fired.
Print-friendly is technically a cool tool, but it just encourages sloppy design. If you have content that readers NEED to print, install on your site the tools to help them. Unless you're doing product descriptions, flight schedules, used car prices or any other info the read needs to use AWAY from the screen, encouraging them to print is asking them to use the wrong medium.

I would heartily disagree. There are a number of people who print out blog posts (including myself) to use in meetings and discussions with others in small groups, during leadership meetings, or even during conferences, especially when a few don't have internet access, etc.
Printing is a value-add for the user.

seconded…

i think it doesn't work for blogger. i installed and tried and it looks weird. it prints the link list and not the post itself
Taylor Norrish says
Correct, we don't have the blogger widget ready yet.
human3rror says
doh! … will you eventually move to wordpress…?
Steve Kryger says
Great – thanks for sharing. What a useful plug-in!
Taylor Norrish says
Thanks for the post, you've got an awesome implementation!
A quick note… PrintFriendly won't slow your page load down at all. We don't call the javascript until the user clicks the Print button/link. It's also hosted on Amazon CloudFront CDN for fast reliable service.
Let me know if you need anything.
Cheers!
