If there’s a gap between the web staff on your church and your “other” staff then there’s an even greater gap between the IT staff and your “other” staff.
Funny how that is. And for many ministries the “web” guy is the exact same thing “IT” guy. Can you relate?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been introduced by other people on staff as the “IT” guy and having to somehow backtrack and/or correct them that I’m not.
But just like everything else in life it’s more about being relational within the context of our work than anything else. How have you been doing in that area? Are you taking the time to build relationships instead of relational databases?
Jay Caruso says
That is so true. I’m an IT guy, but people naturally assume that I also do development. I can’t code much beyond
10 Print “Jay”
20 Go to 10
Run
At the same time I know guys that can write code like crazy and yet need help attaching a document to an outbound email.
John Saddington says
yes. same thing. the “generalist” thing is so overrated.
