A personal contact from the Church means a lot to people. Whether they are a first time guest, new member, or someone going through discouraging times, a call from the Church lets the person know someone cares. This helps to close the back door of the church.
The pastor, staff, and servants of the Church connect with guests and members in an effort to close the back door. With today’s schedules, it is becoming more difficult to enable this type of process. The process can be challenging – from getting the calling list to the staff and servants, to making sure the calls get made, to getting feedback from the calls, and to knowing if any follow-up needs to be made.
You could insist the calls be made from the church building on a specific day and time, but that will limit how many servants can participate. You can give the list to servants and allow them to call from home or their mobile phones, but their Caller ID shows to the callee. This often makes the callee hesitate to answer the call, and it makes servants hesitate to participate as their phone number is now given to the callee.
Take A New Path
There is now a tool that solves these issues. I recently was privileged to be given a demo of Pathway. This tool is impressive! Check out this video:

Here is a short list of features:
- Make calls from anywhere while showing the Church’s Caller ID.
- The caller can send instant emails to the person on the phone if s/he request specific information about a ministry of the Church.
- Connections that require follow up rise to the top of the list so they don’t fall through the cracks.
- Manage and track the process so you can know how effective your calling campaign is.
- It is a hosted solution, so there is no software to install, no need to configure firewalls at the Church, and no hardware to purchase.
For a full list of features, check out their website at www.getpathway.com.
I highly recommend churches take a serious look at Pathway. It can be a key tool in your minfrasTructure to facilitate serving, caring, and closing the back door of the church.
