Google Docs have, in the last couple of days, released a seemingly simple feature that could have big impact on the viability of Google Docs as a professional standard office package.
The new pagination feature means that it is much easier to manage a document that you are intending to print by showing visually on the application the page breaks. This is going to be great for the people who have struggled with that in Google Docs in the past.
There is also an option to switch between pagination and compact, which is quite handy.
I, personally, have not used a package like Microsoft Office or simlar for a few years now, rather, relying mainly on cloud based applications like Google Docs.
I certainly think that it is the way forward considering the collaboration, formating and accesbility benefits.
I say “Go Google Docs! Keep doing your thing!”. What do you say?
David says
I like Google Docs, but I do like the formatting control that Word offers. Docs can look way better in word, or am I wrong?
James Brooks says
I suppose that is fairly subjective?
Garrett Moon says
Nice. I use Google Docs for all my word processing and this was a huge limitation. I still have many other pet-pevs, but this is a step in the right direction.
James Brooks says
Absolutely, I am sure that there will be more to come!
Laurinda says
I hope Google Docs keeps evolving. I love this and it’s definitely going in the right direction
James Brooks says
Amen sister!

love google docs and cannot wait for it to fully mature, but for now, MS Word still provides functionality making it easier to format research papers correctly.
For anything that does not need to be formal, Google Docs is great. Based on the changes they have made over the years, it will not be long before they match the feature set I currently use in Word. I am looking forward to that day.
James Brooks says
Absolutely Rick!
Joey says
Now all we need is for google docs to give the option to add page numbers. The only thing I still can’t believe is missing…
James Brooks says
I’m sure it will be there in time?
Graham says
This is good news!
James Brooks says
Yehp!
