Someone passed me this link this morning and I thought it would be worth sharing with the community here.
Essentially what Highlighter does is gives your readers the ability to interact with your content to one more degree, providing some interactivity like sharing, emailing, as well as commenting right in-line with the content. Not sure how this works? Check out the following overview video:
I did have one obvious issue before I even began trying it out and this was it: What happens with all that data when you uninstall the plugin? The reason I say this is that for blogs the themes and styles and even functionality can change pretty often; I wouldn’t want to lose all that data with just a refresh.
Overall, great idea. It would be interesting to hear how people have used it and with what success.

I must say I am pretty impressed, I wonder what kind of load it takes on page loading times along with caching etc, since they may be “updating” a cached page.

holy crap man. you commented so fast. i literally stood up talked with someone and sat down and there was a comment..
snap.
anyways, yes. that was another concern: page load times.

Cool concept. My concern would be instructing your readers on how to use it (and how they would even know it’s there). While it’s made to be simple, it’s a pretty different approach to comments, especially for less tech-savvy people who might not “get it”.
