I love my Motorola Droid X. The Android platform is great and the integration with Google’s products helps to make it a perfect compliment to my business. With Google voice, I pretty much have two different phone numbers and with Google Apps, I can easily view different calendars and emails.
After having used it for most of the year, I have downloaded quite a few apps from the Android Marketplace. Many apps are great, some not so great. I put a small list together of my favorite apps.
Note that none of these apps require your device to be rooted (the iPhone equivalent of jailbreaking).
- YouVersion Bible – The team over there has done an amazing job with this app and it just gets better and better. In October they added the game-breaker for Android which is the ability to download offline bibles so a connection is not necessary to read. I love this app.
- Evernote – Some people I know are still wondering what the allure is of this application. For me it comes down to one thing really: Voice notes. I often have ideas pop into my head when I am driving or out at the store, etc. With Evernote, I can quickly record that idea and then listen it to it later and get it down on paper (or on the computer).
- Tunesync – I really like iTunes for managing my music library but getting music from iTunes to something other than an iPhone/iPod is usually frustrating. Not anymore. Tunesync makes it easy. The best part? You can sync wirelessly.
- Mobile Metronome – This is a specialized app as it is not meant for general use but for drummers and musicians. It’s loaded up with features. It can do 10-230bpm. You can choose different time signatures, change the beat subdivision and use different sounds. It also has a visual beat count.
- PhotoFunia – As the name says, this one is for fun. Take images from your library or snap new photos and put them in all kinds of different situations. I had some fun with a snapshot I had of Chris’s son:
So what about you?
So what were some of your favorites from 2010?

Great list!
Have to add Dropbox to the list. The ability to move things around is invaluable to me, particularly as a church worker.
I’d also toss in HanDBase into the discussion… it is one of the most versatile apps in my arsenal.
