I really don’t want to come across as a fanboy, really… the problem is that even when I hear the things that people don’t like about Windows 8, I find that for me they aren’t really a problem. Still, I want to acknowledge some of the things people are disliking about Windows 8. If you ask the internet, what is wrong with Windows 8, or really what is wrong with anything, you will probably get a lot of different responses, but today I am going to try to focus on what seem to be the top two complaints out there. One notable thing that people are missing is the lack of a start button. If you look at the Windows taskbar, there is indeed no start button, or start menu that we have become so used to. This hasn’t been a problem for me however because as I have mentioned before, all you have to do is go to the lower left corner and click when you are using a PC and the Metro Start Page comes up. That leads into a second common complaint. Some people don’t like the fact that Metro and the traditional desktop experience are seamless. There are desktop/laptop users that are worried that their experience is going to suffer because of all the changes that have been made to make Windows 8 more tablet friendly. As someone who sits in an office at least 2 days a week of not more, most of my Windows 8 use has been more like a traditional desktop user and my experience has been great. However it is different, and as with all things that are different, experiences are subjective. Suffice it to say that from my experience I can’t find any compelling reasons why the desktop experience is any worse, though the differences that come with metro are new and take a little getting used to.
You may have had a radically different experience than me. We all need to let our inner troll come out sometimes, and this is the article for it. Do you hate something about Windows 8? Is the lack of an icon for the start menu driving you crazy? Do you love OS X and you want us to know why Windows 8 is horrible? Let it all out, however please do be polite to others. Positive comments are welcome as well. Tomorrow we are going to wrap this series up.
