Here’s a really cool creative app for your iPhone/iPod touch.
CollabraCam let’s you sync together up to four different cameras!
One person is a director, via an iPhone/iPad/iPod touch, while four other devices connect to it over a single WiFi network, MiFi or mobile hotspot.
The director screen lists all the connected camera operators, while recording the feeds from each camera – easily switching between them. If that wasn’t enough, the director can send on screen directions – pan, tilt, dolly, etc …
Once you’ve made your movie magic, you can save the video under one file, just as it was directed in real time, or as the individual clips captured by the other cameras. You can render out a live multi-shot video in a heartbeat, or take your footage home and add your effects.
The current price point is $6.99 per app. That can add up if you want to grab five copies, but considering the power and potential, it’s not unreasonable.

Thats pretty dope.
What would be really neato, is if you could hook the iphones up to a HD DSLR and an audio recording device (Zoom, HVX200, etc.) and sync them by using a unified record button. The end result would be clips of the same(ish) exact length that would easily sync up in post.

The possibilities of integrating this type of technology with high-end gear is … a w e s o m e .
And probably just around the corner 🙂

This opens up so many possibilities… that my mind doesn’t know where to start. Pretty exciting to say the least.
