Marketing has come a long way in the past 50 years. What was once a very corporate, centralize market with billboards, newspapers, radio, and television marketing has become very complex. Now you can go through any number of channels to advertise on the traditional platforms as well as social media, emailing, texting, and web advertising. Not only do you need to know what avenues your users use (it is probably better to advertise on television for 65+ and Facebook for 18-25), but you need to know what marketing is even fruitful.

Researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch found that more than “half of teens have been asked to send a nude photo of themselves to someone, and 31% had requested a naked picture to be sent to them.”
This should not only be a wake-up call to parents, but Youth Pastors need to be in the know. This is a trend that has only increased over the years and needs to be addressed.
The attitude of “kids will be kids” is not an appropriate response to this phenomenon, not to mention the harmful effects that will be carried by an entire generation.

For those of us who work with teenagers, either as youth workers, teachers, or parents, we know that texting while driving is a big deal. Unfortunately, many teens either believe that it will never happen to them (they are untouchable) or think that it is all blown out of proportion.
Coming from someone who has worked with two families in the last two years where the student was distracted while driving and either the teen or the other driver was killed, it is a HUGE deal. Nothing could be more disastrous. No one wants to see a student’s life come to a sudden stop like that.

I’ve always known that sexting occurred, but I never knew the numbers where so high.

If you know a teenager, you know that they are texting machines. In fact, they actually have races now to see who can text the fastest. It is their medium for communication, something that John Dyer would say will have consequences, both good and bad, on that generation and those to come.
