Good or bad, the mega church trend is still, well, trending.
I’ve heard a lot of different perspectives on this and have experienced both.
From growing up in a small church, attending New Life in Colorado Springs, and coming from a 300 member church before coming to Italy, I’ve surveyed a lot—big, small and MEGA.
I found this infographic very interesting:

I go to a Mega Church in Lancaster, PA http://www.calvarychurch.org. But I never considered it Mega (though it can take a good 15 minutes to get from car to classroom with little kids). Our pastor is probably the most humble person I know. He doesn’t come off as a celebrity, he still drives his late 80s/early 90s minivan to church and parks far away from the door. He loves his wife and kids and talks about them regularly. We have a great congregation and ministries that make you feel like a small church family within a big church (3,000+ attenders). I know we are on the smaller end of the Mega Church definition but I think it’s because of how many opportunities there are for Bible studies, children and student ministries, special needs, care for widows/widowers, etc.
Great info graphic though. Here’s to hoping those Mega Churches are giving back to their communities and the world at large.

I hope so, too!
