Mailbox Joins Dropbox

Mailbox Joins Dropbox

March 18, 2013
by Phil Schneider

Everyone’s favorite “boxes” are joining forces: Mailbox, the mail app for the iPhone, has joined the Dropbox team.

This tiny bombshell was posted late last week via Mailbox’s official Tumblr:

“Rather than grow Mailbox on our own, we’ve decided to join forces with Dropbox and build it out together. To be clear, Mailbox is not going away. The product needs to grow fast, and we believe that joining Dropbox is the best way to make that happen. Plus, imagine what cool things you could do if your Mailbox was connected to your Dropbox…”

Mailbox joins dropbox, can we all say “awesome”?

Seriously, how cool would it be to have your Mailbox linked to your Dropbox? Imagine the workflow potential!

Are you excited by this news, or has the wait for Mailbox turned you off?

As a long time Dropbox fan and Mailbox early adopter I am beyond stoked at this merger of superpowers. It’s gonna be awesome.

I agree. I’m looking forward to some sweet integration. It’s nice to see something other than Google and Twitter snatching up good apps.

I agree. Dropbox has been consistently awesome, so I’d love that awesomeness to rub off on other, smaller services/apps.

I have my own Mailbox account (I’m not a number now!) but I have zero interest in using it now… took too long and Gmail is just as good (maybe not as pretty)

I wondered if the anticipation they were building was going to burn some of their potential users. That’s sort of why I didn’t worry about becoming an early adopter. Does this deal with Dropbox have at least curious as to what wonders might come?

That’s sweet. I’ve got a while to go, but maybe things will pick up speed as this deal begins to take effect.
