Got word this morning that Logos announced the release of v4 of their Logos Bible Software.
Rocking!
I’ve been using this software for years and there really isn’t anything else like it. I use it for both personal use as well as my theological studies at Seminary.
In addition to this release is their iPhone App which also looks stunning.
Packed with features that other Bible software doesn’t it’s going to be a great companion piece for your mobile device.
I particularly like the Greek and Hebrew view that will make me sound more intelligent than I actually am.

Cool. Thanks Logos for your work for the Kingdom and keep it coming!
And if you haven’t already, go purchase and download this thing!
Any one else have a “good word” about this software? Speak up!

Ouch! I thought it's free… like "Reftagger" their WordPress plugin

This is great software… but hardly in the price range of most middle-class people, especially these days. $150 for the cheapest version of the desktop software??? I know that they have to pay royalties for the use of the NRSV, NIV, etc., but a lot of those books are public-domain – essentially freebies. If I were a seminary student, I understand a lot of the value, but dang, how about one that has a few Bible versions, and a cut-down selection of titles, and doesn't cost 3 digits? I know they're a business, but come on…

I'm pretty sure you can buy individual titles (you could in previous versions), but the bundles end up saving you a TON of money and are designed for studying, not just reading. Meaning that you get a really good basic set of Bible study books for the price.

I downloaded the iPhone app during church yesterday and love it so far. I am planning on purchasing the desktop version soon.

accordance is the way to go if you are on a mac. No contest.

Yah I have tried Logos and it is horrible. If you’re on a Mac the only way to go is with Accordance, which I used throughout seminary. It makes Logos look like something in the dark ages.
RickwSmith says
You must not have used Logos in a while. It can now do anything accordance can do. I have upgraded to Logos 4, and it's even more awesome.
I find accordance to be very "unMac" like. Besides not having near as many resources as Logos, no where near as easy to use, and no where near the amount of publisher support that Logos has – it just looks ugly! (sorry – I'm a sucker for nice looking design!)

Logos has terrific software, and has applications for use in private devotions as well as uses for study, sermon prep and class prep.
Why do we balk at having to pay in three figures for Bible software? How many of us bought a PS3, or some other game system, or a Kindle e-reader and hardly blinked? I know Logos offers some scholarships for seminary students and also has a monthly payment method for purchasing their software.
Sometimes I think if a product is connected to the church or the Bible, we think we should get it for free. Kind of have our priorities mixed up on this one, I think.
