More tech is going the way of touchscreens with smartphones, tablets and even Windows 8. However, typing on them can be a frustrating experience as the keys aren’t tactile and can be rather awkward to use.
But a typing revolution might be on the horizon with the LiquidKeyboard!
The LiquidKeyboard™ is a virtual keyboard for touch screens and surfaces that adapts to the user’s natural finger positions and allows users to touch-type on smooth surfaces.
Christian Sax and Hannes Lau of the University of Technology in Sydney unveiled their new prototype touchscreen LiquidKeyboard at the Tech23 conference in Sydney in August.
The clever thing about their keyboard is that it adapts to the typer’s style. Wherever you put your fingers, the keyboard follows them, and the other keys popup around them!

It looks pretty nifty, but does take up quite a bit of room on the screen. And although it’s just a proof of concept at the moment, I’d love a try (looks like something out of Star Trek)!!!
What do you think? Could the LiquidKeyboard be the typing of the future?

I don’t know… it is a cool concept, but the screen real estate is huge, and I’m not sure how it would adjust for numbers, shift keys, and such.
