The Link 10, is a home automation device with built-in Bluetooth and speaker that connects to all Google Assistant programs. Home automation is slowly becoming a more commercial product. While the technology has been available for quite a while, it is only now getting popular and put on brick-and-mortar stores.
Devices like Google Home, Amazon Echo, and the Link 10 are hubs for home automation, with microphones which connected to your wifi to interact with the Internet of Things devices.
In many ways, it is similar to the Google Home with three noticeable differences:
- It’s portable. While you can plug the device into the wall, the internal battery has up to 5 hours of life for it. A great idea for the church janitor who wants to take the device everywhere and listen to podcasts, or the youth ministry that wants a great mobile system that can play music from a phone. It also has Bluetooth, so you do not need a wifi connection.
- It’s waterproof. By no means would I suggest you intentionally get the device submerged as they continue to use “water resistant,” the device can be submerged in up to 3.3 feet of water for 30 minutes. I see this as a great youth ministry device outside during a water balloon fight or Children’s Ministry.
- The speaker is better than most. The speaker is capable of putting out some solid mid-low presence, making music sound full and round. It isn’t a sound that will fill a crowded room, but it’s a bit more powerful than the Google Home and Amazon Echo. The device isn’t built for powerful sound with a lot of ultra-low frequencies, so do not get delusions you will be able to use this to replace the church sound system.
Here is my unboxing of the Link 10 and me using it in person with my kids.
