More and more people are using mobile devices to surf the web. iPhone, iPad, Android, or any of the other countless smartphones and tablets.
We have seen the need for responsive web design on the rise because of this. It isn’t enough to develop a quick fix for those few mobile users, anymore.
Because of this mobile boom, we are quickly moving past just needing to be presentable for mobile users and onto generating a more mobile enriched experience for the user.
Brian Notess has recently released a jQuery touch and drop plug-in that does just that.
jQuery Touch and Drop Plug-In
Now, you can bring drag and drop to touch-screen devices!
Features
- Callback
Execute a custom function when the user drops it. - Minimum Movement
Define a movement minimum for an element before you make a callback. - Light-Weight
4kb – YES!
Download it, demo it, fork it, get the code specifics, all on the jQuery Touch and Drop Plug-in website.

Hey Eric:
I agree with your post. I believe this is where mobile should be already. Unfortunately, we know how the church can be in terms of adapting. Also, people should check out “Sencha Touch” .
