As many of you know, I have a huge interest in graffiti and street art.
Recently I wrote about a friend and brother of mine, Cameron Moberg, who is instrumental in the running of an awesome group called the Gospel Graffiti Crew. Through Cameron and Gospel Graffiti, I met a guy who I regard as one of my closest friends, Arend Maatkamp, also known as Joax.
Arend, who currently lives in Rotterdam, Holland, has been visiting the UK and painting (legal) graffiti with myself and others in London every summer since we met.
A couple of years ago another friend of mine, Roy Peterson, a Christian filmmaker from London, tagged along for one of our painting sessions and took some footage.
Roy has been pretty busy the last few years working on a couple of big film projects, as well as working for a UK based Christian TV channel. He is a busy guy! However, this week I received a very welcome tweet stating that the short film was finally ready! Yay!
As a bit of background, when we go out to paint we normally go to a local graffiti warehouse, fill one of our trunks with spraypaint, tins of housepaint, rollers, trays, fried chicken, redbull, coffee, and head out to one of a few central London locations. We always pick a spot where it is legal to paint, pray together and then get going.
We always try to paint something that will glorify God and make people think about, or reflect upon Jesus. We get generally great reactions when we go out to paint, people take pictures, chat to us, ask about why we are painting, etc. It’s a great opportunity to have fun, and share Jesus in a creative and relevant way.
Seeing yourself on video can definitely sometimes be a bit cringeworthy, however, I think that some people here will certainly find this video of interest, so here it is:
