i’m a bigger fan of the apoggee setup for any audio input

It certainly is a more flexible piece of gear, but by the time you invest in a mic, you’re going to pay double. If someone is interested in something that’s going to perform better, Jared is absolutely, right. You can read more about the Apoggee JAM here.

Is there one with a lapel mic anywhere?
Or a pick-your-own-mic?
Eric Dye says
If you want to be more flexable in your application, I strongly encourage the piece of gear Jared mentioned, the Apoggee JAM.

I just don’t know how “good” that mic is going to be at $60…. I found an XLR solution that I described at my site. It’s a $35 cable that allows you to input XLR and simultaneously connect a headphone for monitoring. That way you can use your trusty SM58 mic.
herbhalstead says
Also, the problem with the apogee is that you cannot power your device while using it.
Eric Dye says
Good call. Do you have any link or more info on said $35 cable? Could be a big help for some folks. Thanks!

here’s my post about it http://geekrev.com/field-recorder-solution-under-40/

Awesome! Thanks for the link. 🙂

Very, true – I doubt it’s very good. Gotta love some SM58 action, though!
