It is rare for me to get overwhelmingly excited about an app, but Flipboard is something very special.
You see, when I purchased my iPad, I had a very specific idea about what I wanted to use it for, and that was to consume media, specifically media from blogs and social networks. However to do that I had to use a separate app depending on what I wanted to consume. Safari for Facebook, Hootsuite for Twitter, Google Reader for my RSS subscriptions, etc. Plus most of these were not built specifically with iPad in mind.
Flipboard has changed it all for me. I can check out my Google Reader, links that people are putting out on Twitter and Facebook, and consume content on other subjects that I enjoy, all in one place, and the best part: It has obviously been put together specifically for the iPad, it feels right.
Flipboard actually makes me feel like I am using my iPad in the right way, and helps me get out of my iPad what I always wanted from it.
That is high praise.

It was most used app on my iPad when I had it. Wish they would do something online for us or make an app out of it for us MBP users!

Yeh – it’s great technology! Although I don’t think it would be as good on non-iPad devices!

Flipboard was the app that made me say “It’s time for an iPad.”
James Brooks says
Definitely – it’s SO rad. It’s made my iPad come alive!

Flipboard is full of win. Zite is ok too, but Flipboard’s transitions and appearance for me beats zite.
James Brooks says
I’ll have to take a look at Zite…
