A 75-year-old women in Georgia (the country) mistakenly unplugged 3.2 million citizens internet connection.
Oops.
The cable is said to be, “heavily protected.” So heavy a 75-year-old women could damage it?
Unfortunately for her, she wasn’t digging on her own property. You see, some Georgians make money by digging for unused copper cables and selling them as scrap.
The system monitoring the fiber-optic cable notified authorities who showed-up soon after the woman hit the cable that served three different countries. She was arrested immediately, but then released for, “old age”; however, she could face up to three years in prison!
They believe the cable may have been exposed because of landslides, rain, or other natural factors.
I’m now going to dig in my garden plot. Hopefully, I won’t disconnect Italy and any neighboring countries from the internet.
