With the addition of Instagram stories, there is more hype than ever for people to be on Instagram. Honestly, if your church is not on it, I don’t know if you are all in with your social media strategy. I’d make Instagram part of the top three, maybe even two, social networks your ministry needs to be on. With that in mind, I want to offer some statistics to help you make an informed decision on how to approach the platform if you so choose and how to best utilize it.
Here are my three favorite points from the infographic below for Instagram:
- Instagram has a heavily millennial approach to it so youth and college ministries, this platform is a must. But if you are targeting to older demographics, realize that the older crowds are coming but slow to adopt so if you want to be ahead of the crowd, start now.
- Even if you are worried about doing too much, Instagram is still worth it because it has ramifications for Twitter, Facebook, and print media as this is so visually drive and other platforms can benefit from the boost you invest in with this platform.
- Selfies are important, hashtags a definite necessity. So be liberal with both at events, even after church when people are leaving. Grab a photo or ten and post them.

Interesting! My IG love is growing by the minute. I used to enjoy Snapchat more but now with the introduction of stories, I uninstalled Snapchat and committed to Instagram. I don’t do selfies, though. You’ll find my profile filled with photos of coffee, books and shoes. 😛
