For some of you full-time bloggers and missionaries out there, you know what it means to work on your own, be self-motivated, and have the financial worries that come along with it.
Freelancing, whether it is as a Christian out spreading the Gospel as a missionary, doing photography or graphic design for several big and small businesses, the idea of working for yourself whenever you want sounds attractive, but the work that goes into it is extremely tough.
Below is an infographic of what it means to be a freelancer, the struggles that come with it, and the benefits.
Here are some of the highlights:
- The biggest initial reasons for being a freelancer are flexibility, freedom, and having been laid off from a previous job.
- 55% of people who switch to freelancing should see an increase in pay.
- Only 26% of people work as a freelancer for more than 6 years, 20% quiting after only 1 year.

Great infographic! I’ve been a part-time (after full-time hours) freelancer for years, but have stepped out to full-time FLing (Web/Front End Designer) since June. Still trying to get into the groove of client contact, time-management, etc. – but so far I love it. Hoping to be doing this for years to come.
It’s encouraging, looking at the stats on the chart, also. My new wallpaper 🙂
Thanks Jeremy.
